Joanie Coyote is an artist, stand-up comic, costume designer and college professor.

Joanie started her comedy career in Houston, Texas at the Laff Stop and has had the pleasure of working along side many of the top comics in the country including Wanda Sykes, Ron White, George Lopez, Brian Regan, Greg Giraldo and many more. She also had the honor of performing for our troops overseas. As an actress, Joanie was seen Off-Broadway in the acclaimed play Top Girls and garnered rave reviews from the New York Times and Daily News. She is also the writer and star of the web series Shoppity Shop.

Joanie Coyote has been a theater costume designer for over 30 years. She has designed for numerous theaters across the country including The Alley Theatre in Houston, Westbeth Theatre in New York and the Lee Strasberg Theatre in Los Angeles. Joanie was also a dresser for Les Miserable and female lead dresser for Most Happy Fella on Broadway and also made costumes for the Joffrey Nutcracker Ballet, Broadway’s Starlight Express, Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera and more.

Although Joanie has always been artistic, she has just recently begun painting and exploring different mediums. She is keeping a daily art practice and posting it online. You can check that out here. In addition, Joanie Coyote is a professor at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising teaching History of Costume and 20th Century Fashion Designers.
